Prayer Request Update

We are giving thanks to God for providing John with full-time work. Thanks to all who have been praying for us and with us about this situation!

Catching Up

The beginning of August brought the end of my contract with author friend, Mark Littleton, and a dinner invitation with a Focus on the Family children’s editor during November’s writer’s conference. I’m excited to have the opportunity to talk with him and gain tips on how to write for children and teens.

The start of school came for my boys and illness with it. For an update on how we're doing, see "Living With Chronic Lyme Disease" link under "Check It Out."

Garrison zapped my laptop, but, praise God, we found someone to rescue it. I’m so thankful that I didn’t lose anything.

The September writer’s meeting went well, even though I was probably too sick to be there. I administered the writing activity for the night. We played a word game in which each table received a theme/title for a story. Each person wrote down three favorite fun words and were instructed to write a sentence using at least one of their words. However, they were to continue the story from the sentence written previous to theirs. See “Stop, You Mangy Dog” and “Look! Up In The Sky” for a sample of craziness this group came up with. See what happens when you have “too many cooks in the kitchen.” LOL It was fun!

Don’t forget to catch up on Beth! I’ll be posting chapter 17 next week. See the chapter update for specifics. Enjoy!

May God bless your day!

Opportunities

I had an opportunity to publish and article in a book, but it didn’t make the final cut. However, I have other opportunities coming up and am praying I can get those things completed and submitted in time. My focus at the moment is to get back into the swing of things with Beth, as well as organize my thoughts on which articles to work and in what order.

Stop, You Mangy Dog!

Tris shrieked, then ran as fast as he could until he reached a fence and stopped. His mind was muddled. He plunked down on the ground, looked up at the billowy clouds and searched his brain for clarity. “This is absolutely amazing!” he explained. "I am exploring the neighborhood and this fence is right in the way!" But in that moment, inspiration struck...he put on his power-wings, flew up into the air, grabbed the mangy dog and took him home where his mother gave him and the dog cheese-whiz and crackers for dinner.

(I'm not sure how we went from being the dog to being the boy with the dog, but I still thought it was cute.)

Look! Up In The Sky!

It was the most stupendous, incredulous thing Jane had ever seen. On one of the years crispy mornings. She giggled as she strapped on her parachute. The parachute was very snazzy and she hurriedly skedoodled to the edge of the cliff. She shoved off in an audacious, spelunky plunge. “I feel so joyful and carefree,” shouted Jane, “I’m happy up in the sky.”

(I'm not sure, but I think "on one of the years crispy mornings" is trying to say that it was one of the crispiest mornings that year. I thought this was the best story over all...at least it made the most sense, even if "skedoodled" and "spelunky" are made up words. LOL)

September's News

Good morning!

Laptop: I wanted to let you know that my laptop is alive and well. It turned out to be a power supply issue like my hubby thought. As far as I can tell, I didn't lose anything. Praise God! Thanks to those of you who suggested places to take my laptop. We found a good "doctor" who fixed it over the holiday weekend and got it back to us in a timely manner. Thanks for a great job, Ed!

Thanks: I want to thank those of you who sent me encouraging little notes in response to the delay in getting Beth's next chapter out. I wasn't ignoring you, but I've been sick and am still sick, so I thank you all at once. Your notes were very encouraging! Thanks for your understanding and your loving support.

Newsletter: There will be no September issue of my newsletter. I need to spend that time getting caught up on Beth. This letter will have to suffise.

Prayer: For those who are my self-appointed prayer warriors, here are my requests:
1) Job for John as his contract is ending. Some of the following hinge on this one.
2) Provision for the boys' school tuition.
3) Provision for attendance to my writer's conference in November.
4) Preparation of articles, stories, etc. for the conference. (I have an invitation to take a meal at the conference with a Focus on the Family editor whether I attend the conference or not.)
5) My recovery from strep throat so I can work next week and the boys' continued recovery from strep/colds/allergies.

Thanks to all of you who pray for me and encourage me. All your prayers and support are greatly appreciated!

Spread the word! Please be sure to share my website and/or "Finding Beth" with all friends and family members who you think would be interested. www.LinnetteMullin.com and http://LinnetteMullin.blogspot.com (on-line serial story).

Blessings: This update is sent with a prayer for encouragement from God in your life. May we all learn to love Him more. God bless!

In Christ,
