I don't remember when exactly, but at some point in my childhood I realized that my middle initial is the same as my dad's. I determined then that my "official" signature would always include the "R." As silly as it may sound, I have stuck to it through the years, determined that if my name was ever in print, the "R" would remain. Every time I use it, I think of him and honor him in my heart. It's my funny little way of saying, "I love you, Daddy, and I'm proud to be yours."
